About

Dear Stretchers,Barbara Templeton | author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Stretching, Illustrated

I have to admit, I used to shun stretching. Although I was an avid swimmer, runner and cyclist, rarely would you catch me mid-stretch. I thought stretching was too easy and a waste of my precious time. Young, healthy and strong, I felt invincible, yet I was naive.

Eventually, life’s stresses and strains led me to an introductory class where I was forced to experience the releasing quality and refreshing nature of breathing and stretching my body. I was hooked. As I worked through the knots, I developed a relationship with my physical form. My body started to change. Nagging tightness, aches and pains began to disappear. My mind became clear and calm. I couldThe Complete Idiot’s Guide to Stretching easily focus on enjoying my life rather than my aches and pains. I felt free to enjoy my family and friends and all the many blessings I had been given. I felt fully alive! This is the way I continue to feel as I stretch my way through Life.

So I finally knew that stretching was for me. And this, my precious stretchers, is why I have written this book: to offer you the same opportunity. I challenge you to take the time to stretch. Practice with patience and compassion. Make stretching a part of your life.

With this book and your body as guides, you can’t go wrong. Start with the basics and move gracefully through or dive in right where you need, in order to address your particular concerns. Release any ideas about the way your stretch should “look” or “feel”. Let go of expectations.

I welcome you warmly to The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Stretching. May you enjoy your journey to health and vitality!

Many Blessings,

Barbara Templeton
