Stacey Nemour’s Stretching for the Least Flexible People on the Planet

Why I bought this DVD: I have tight hamstrings and this sometimes causes me to have lower back pain. I work at an office so I sit most of the time, which isn’t very good for my flexibility.
Since one month I’ve started to do yoga once a week (also to increase flexibility and relaxation). And I do Belly Dance once a week.
I had a few questions before I started to workout with this DVD. So I mailed Stacey and she was kind enough to respond to me the same day. Here are the questions and answers:
Q Do I need to do a warm up before I do the exercises on this dvd?
A I set up a specific order of the stretches to warm you up gently so you don’t need to do any
other exercise to warm-up unless you’d like to.
Q How much do you recommend to do the exercises on this dvd in order to progress quickly? (I work in a office, so I do a lot of sitting in a day).
A I suggest you do the DVD daily before or after work, listen to your body if you’d like to take a day or 2 off or go for a walk or do any other physical activity you enjoy. As your flexibility and range of motion increase, it’s becomes easier to do other activities.
DVD contents: In the start menu you have 3 options:
- Play all > Plays the whole DVD
- Chapter selections > 5 chapters (there are no chapter titles, 1= upper body workout, 2= lower body workout)
- Stacey Nemour > written text of Stacey’s biography
The DVD starts with the upper body workout. 6 stretches that target: shoulders, back, waist, biceps and triceps.
The DVD continues with the lower body workout. I counted 28 stretches that target: calves, knees, hips, quads, back, waist, ankles, achilles, groin and hamstrings.
After all the stretches Stacey shows you how you should set up for the splits.
Because I’m not really flexible I put my hands on each side on a chair for support.
The last part of the DVD is a guided meditation/visualization exercise.
This is a great support to increase your self confidence in attaining your goal of flexibility. When I do this I feel calm and my hands get warm.
On this DVD Stacey explains and show’s the stretches and you follow along with her. It’s not a complicated system where you have to make your own workout.
I really like Stacey’s personality, she’s very nice and supporting.
I feel more loosened up when I do these stretches. I’ve been doing these for five days in a row now.
At the beginning of the DVD I found the sound a little soft. I solved this by turning the sound up.
Stacey tells at the end of the DVD that she has 3 other dvd’s out that you can do after you progress with this dvd: Secrets of Splits & Flexibility, Anytime, Anywhere Kung Fu and for when your really progressed: Extreme Flexibility for Pro-Athletes & Teams.
She’s also working on a membership website with articles on flexibility and martial arts. [...]
I hope you’ll find this review useful (this was my first review ever).

I watched and followed Stacey’s demos on this dvd and have found that even in my usual routine of cleaning around the house and working in the yard, I’m now able to do things much more easily and without the usual aches and pains due to bending and twisting through various tasks. Even if you’re not very bendable like me, this video can make a big difference. Highly recommended!

This is such a great routine to follow on a daily basis! I suffer from a compacted lower back and with the muscle atrophy I experienced from numerous spasms, I am clearly one of least flexible people on the planet…until now. I started this program and my range of flexibility has increased immensely and it gets me through my toughest day. Stacey has a great energy and keeps it going through the whole dvd. I love how she ends with a meditation, which just adds to the great feeling after stretching. I highly recommend this to anyone who thinks it’s not possible to regain their flexibility.

The title is misleading. The video quality is just downright poor. It will show her head and shoulders only while she is doing stretches over her head. The video looks like is was shot in her apartment in a space she can barely move in with cable wires hanging out of the wall in the background. When she is doing stretches it doesn’t always show all of her body which makes it completely unhelpful for the viewer. I cannot get past the poor quality of the video to even take her seriously. I cannot believe I wasted money on this. I cannot believe she would actually sell this and feel good about herself and her name. This video should be reported.

If you’re going to help people who are extremely inflexible, it would be a good idea to have stretches demonstrated by a person who is _not_ incredibly flexible.
If I want to see someone really flexible doing stretches that I can’t do, there are lots of other videos that will show me that. I don’t even have to buy one. I can just go to YouTube.
What I wanted to see was Stacey helping people like me, people who can’t even sit up straight against a wall because we’re so tight. I wanted to learn how to _modify_ the kinds of stretches that she does in this video, so that I can work up to the point where I can start doing the ‘normal’ versions.
What I got instead was Stacey herself doing things like, oh, splits against a wall. Impressive, but not very helpful.
But what she lacks in teaching ability, she makes up for in marketing. I mean, she got me to shell out $25 for a video that she shot using two cameras in her living room, possibly in not much more time than the running time of the video. I probably covered her production costs with my purchase. If you’re thinking of ordering this, you can buy my copy for cheap. Viewed only once…
Anyway, the title, to be less misleading, should be something like ‘Stretching for people who are already pretty flexible, featuring pretty typical stretches demonstrated by a perky blonde’. But who’s going to buy that, right?
